'Tis I, your humble Frustrated Lady Writer! |
I work full-time at a call center. Despite the stress the job brings, I have tons of great things from there: a living wage, excellent health insurance, great coaches, and wonderful co-workers.
I've been with Blogger since 2005, originally keeping a blog called Media Reviews and Personal Opinions. After punishing myself harshly for that title, I damned the blog to the Proverbial Corner and didn't do a thing until one mild December afternoon in 2007. That's when I decided to do something more with my time. Taking my name from an early Dire Straits song, I started blogging again. To my astonishment, I stuck with it. And I have no clue why, still to this day. In late April of 2011, I changed the blog name and my moniker to "Frustrated Lady Writer" after learning that "crazy" was ableist (even when I was reclaiming it).
I moved most of my reviews and reviewing in general to a blog I christened Jupiter_Nova's Reviews, where I review books and music, with the rare video game or movie. As of now, it is on permanent hiatus (you can find the link on the top of the page).
As a writer, I dabble into everything. Name it, I did write it at some point in my life. I mainly stick to fiction and essays. My overall fiction writing style is adding genre elements with some literary ones, because unlike some of my former classmates, I'm not a snob. I tend to write character-driven pieces, ones about characters getting into unusual situations and trying to get through them.
Besides being a writer and call center rep; I can also be the resident Talking Heads and Silent Hill fan if your party requires it. Need someone to endlessly chatter about the psychology of James Sunderland, while seamlessly transitioning to a defense for Little Creatures? I'm your lady! (Payment: one CD by a '70s New Wave band that I don't possess)
As a blogger, my goal is to be a critic of the most random things and also to entertain with my self-deprecatory writing rants. 'Cause that is totally not overdone in the blogging world, right?
So hey "we're on a road to nowhere/come on inside" ("Road to Nowhere" by Talking Heads)
(all of this is as of August 2015)
